All American Marine Building Gillnetters

All American Marine foreman Zak Battle installs Cummins engine
in 32x12.5-foot bow picker building for Cordova fisherman Greg Synner.

After a slower year, the order book at All American Marie has rebounded. Together with charter and other boats, the firm has expanded their Ferndale Washington operations with a separate facility at South Bellingham. Currently under construction for March and April deliveries are three 32-foot Bristol Bay style bow-pickers. One, for Greg Synner, will have a 12.5-foot bean while two, for Al Agustus and Pat West will carry 14-foot beams. The fourth boat, with a 13-foot beam, will be built for Steve Lewis as a stern picker.

All four boats will be powered by a pair of 315 HP Cummins six-cylinder B-series marine diesels with 5.9-litre displacement. The engines will drive the new model 274 Hamilton jets which have the same 10.5-inch impeller as the earlier model but, explains All American's Zak Battle, their modified intake and other aspects will give a 20 percent improvement in overall performance.

With at least two of the 630-HP boats being finished in time to be barged to Alaska for this year's herring season, construction is progressing rapidly. For more information and an opportunity to see these boats in sea trials, contact:
