Another From Sealink’s Miri Yard

Between building to their own account and for outside clients, the Sealink Slipways at Miri in Sarawak Province of East Malaysia is keeping busy. At the end of June this year, they delivered a 53.8 by 13.8-meter Offshore and Support Vessel to Rederij Groen B.V. of the Netherlands.

Built to the same Conan Wu & Associates design as the owner’s 2008-delivered Venture G, also built by Sealink, the new Maria G’s primary difference is the switch to Cummins for main propulsion. The new vessel is powered by a pair of Cummins KTA50-M2 mains each generating 1600 HP at 1800 RPM. The mains turn two-meter diameter props in nozzles on 190.5 mm diameter shafts through Twin Disc MG5506 gears with 6:1 reduction.

A total of three Cummins QSM11DM-powered 245 kW generators meet the vessel’s electrical requirements. On deck there is a hydraulic crane (TTS GP 320-10-15,0) The Maria G is also fitted with a Schottel STT 330 LK FPP tunnel type 5-ton bow thruster.
