Cummins QSK60 for ASD Tugs from China

The photos show two Cummins QSK60-powered 4400 HP Z-drive tugs alongside the quay at the South China Shipyard in Guangdong Province of South China.

The 30X10.8x5.4-meter vessels are classed by BV I *HULL* MACH, SALVAGE TUG/UTILITY BOAT/ FIRE FIGHTING SHIP/ unrestricted navigation. Main Capacities include 250 cubic meters of fuel oil, 110 cm potable water and fi fi foam 16.5 cu. meters.

Falcon I

Propulsion is by a pair of 16-cylinder 2200 HP Cummins QSK60 main engines turning Rolls Royce Aquamaster US 205MK2 Z-drives. Fire fighting system includes a pump mounted on one of the main engines feeding two monitors. Each monitor is capable of projecting 1200 cubic meters of water up to 120 meters or 300 cubic meters of foam 70 meters. Water can be projected up to 45 meters vertically.

Accommodations are provided for two senior officers in single cabins, four officers in a pair of double bunk cabins, and eight crew in two four person cabins.

A single reel electro-hydraulic towing winch by Plimsoll of Singapore has a capacity for 770 meters of 46 m/m steel wire and a brake holding of 150 metric tons. A bow mounted escort/anchor winch has a 120 metric ton brake.
