Rodriguez Delivers Another

Rodriguez Boat Builders have a reputation for boats designed, built and delivered on time to both new and repeat customers. At the center of this reputation is company president Joey Rodriguez, a man whose energetic approach to life infuses the design and construction of the wide variety of boats that his yard turns out. A particular strength of this yard is the shallow draft model bow tug.
The yard’s latest delivery is of this class. At 75 by 28 feet the beamy boat carries three 600 hp Cummins KTA19M3 main engines mounted side by side and turning three 64x51-inch four-blade stainless steel propellers through Twin Disc MQ5222 gears with 6.1:1 reduction. With its significant beam and three engines generating a total of 1800 hp the shallow draft boat has a molded depth of only ten feet.

Named Sea Oak, the new boat joins the five existing boats in the Garber Bros. Inc. fleet based in Morgan City Louisiana. Ronnie Totten, Garber’s operations manager, explains that the boat is “the smoothest boat that I’ve got. I think that it is how Joey built it a little stiffer. There is just no vibration.”
The Sea Oak’s extra beam allows the boat to maintain a routine draft of nine feet and if necessary, to get into work around some of the shallow water oil platforms, “we can probably get the draft down to 7.5 or 8 feet,” adds Totten. The Sea Oak has accommodation for a crew of six. Tankage is provided for 37,999 gallons of fuel, 5,400 gallons of water and 550 gallons of lube oil. The boat is fitted with two 40 kW gen sets. The vessel was delivered to her new owners in mid June.
