Midship Marine Crew Boat for Rigdon

Delivered this past May, Rigdon Marine's latest crew boat has 7200 hp pushing 176-feet of boat. To move the 176 by 32-foot hull with its 13-foot depth the owners have chosen four Cummins KTA50 M2 engines each delivering 1800 HP to a Hamilton HM811 waterjet pump through Reintjes 2.47:1 gears. That power will drive the boat at 32 knots light while burning 325 gph. At 400 ton displacement the boat is capable of 24 knots burning the same amount of fuel. At cruising speed, burning 275 gph, the boat will make 25 knots light and 20 knots loaded. According to a Rigdon press release the boat actually clocked 33 knots on sea trials! (www.rigdonmarine.com)
The vessel, named Rigdon Sailfish, was built at the new Midship Marine, Inc. facility on the Harvey Canal on the west bank of the Mississippi across from New Orleans Louisiana. The new facility is crowded with a wide variety of aluminum vessels under construction.
Capacities on the Rigdon Sailfish include 230 tons on the 103x26-foot cargo deck, 130.6 cubic meters (34,500 gallons) of cargo fuel, 113.6 cubic meters (30,000 gallons) of rig water and 7.6 cubic meters of potable water.

Accommodation for eight crewmembers includes four single-person and two two-man cabins. The boat is certified to carry up to 80 offshore workers. Ship's service generators are a pair of Cummins/Onan 148 kW gensets. The Dynamic Positioning 1 vessel is equipped with a 200 bhp Wessmaer bow thruster. Two 5,300 gallon per minute fire pumps supply a pair of 5,600 gpm fire monitors.
The US-flagged crew boat is classed ABS HSVR classification +A1 +AMS +DPS-1, International Load Line USCG Subchapter T.
