Triple Screw Towboat for Amazon

The 1800 hp Cummins-powered M/V Bertolini LVIII pushing up river.

The Empresas Bertaloni companies are an integrated transport and logistics organization that operates a fleet to towboats and barges in the Amazonian basin. The firm recently took delivery of a new three-engined towboat from their own shipyard at Manus that will permit 1800 hp of pushing power in relatively shallow draft situations. With each of the three props protected by guards and fitted with double rudders, the boat can push bulk or ro-ro barges in shallow water situations. Propulsion for the new new vessel named Bertolini LVIII is provided by three Cummins KTA19 engines each producing 600 horsepower.
