Kvichak/Crowther Catamarans for Puerto Rico

This December Kvichak Marine ( www.kvichak.com ) will deliver a pair of 72- by 29-foot catamarans to a customer in Puerto Rico. The 150-passenger vessels will carry guests to the El Conquistador Resort and Golden Door Spa in Fajardo, PR. The Crowther designed vessels will be used to carry guests between the hotel and a private island. The two catamarans are being built side by side and will deliver on a heavy lift ship.

Each of the two boats will be powered by a pair of Cummins QSK19 delivering 800 hp at 2100 rpm in a medium continuous duty rating. The engines will turn five-blade nibral propellers on 3.4-inch shafts through ZF665 gears with 2.593:1 ratios. Design speeds at full power are about 27.25 knots and 25.1 knots at 85% power.

The generator for each vessel will be a single 20 Kw Northern Lights. Tankage will include two 600-gallon aluminum fuel tanks and a 300-gallon polyethylene tank for each of fresh water and black water.
