Barge to Mix Containers and Palm Oil

At anchor in the Pearl River.

In July this year the Guangzhou Yuefeng Shipyard was finishing up a huge barge for Malaysia's Johan Shipping. The barge is fitted with tanks to carry 6000 tons of palm oil in the hull. On the large open deck of the 91.4 by 21.946-meter vessel, pad-eyes have been installed to lock down containers so that the barge can carry a deck load of 248 containers.

Skegs aft for good tracking.

Below the deckhouse aft, an engine room contains four Cummins six-cylinder CTA8.3 engines. Two of these diesels power a pair of 92 kW generators sets and two drive the barges cargo pumps. The barge, named Johan Glory 2, is BV-classed for ocean transport.

Pad eyes on deck for containers and extra guards over the piping.
