361 C&G Delivers Series of Crew Boats
An undisclosed owner takes delivery of the third in a series of crew boats this June from C&G Shipbuilding in Mobile Alabama. In January 2007 they took delivery of the second in the series from the same yard. That vessel, named Pollux, is a sister to the others. She is 155 x 30 feet with a 14-foot molded depth amidships. The cargo deck is 100 x 25 feet. The light ship displacement is approximately140 LT while the loaded displacement is approximately 490 LT.
Tankage includes 35,000 gallons of fuel, 50,000 gallons of rig water and 1500 gallons of potable water. Seating is provided for up to 65 off shore workers and accommodation is provided for up to 12 crewmembers. The main engines are four Cummins KTA50 M2 diesels each developing 1800 hp at 1900 RPM for a total of 7200. The engines turn 54x54-inch 4-blade Nibral propellers. At sea trials this reportedly drove the vessel at 23 knots with a 150-ton load.
Electrical service for the boat is from a pair of Cummins/Onan 75 kw generators. A Cummins 6 CTA8.3 engine drives a split case fire pump and a 125 hp hydraulic bowthruster pump. The vessels are certified USCC Subchapter T; ABS HSVR classification A1 AMS International Load line. The first two vessels in the series are working under charter in Mexican waters.
