349 NGV Tech Busy With Aluminum
Probably the busiest shipyard in Peninsular Malaysia, NGF Tech Sdn. Bhd. is attracting a lot of attention. With recent orders for tugs and rescue vessels coming into their steel shipyard, they are equally busy at their aluminum yard near Kuala Lumpur. NGV Tech Chairman Zulkifli Shariff indicates the pace of expansion by explaining that the company recently ordered another 180 digital welding units to add to the 340 units currently at work. They now have nearly 400 workers but he expects that will grow to 700 by June of this year in their two yards at Lumut and Sijangkang, Klang. In late March, at the company's aluminum shipyard there were eleven vessels in various states of completion including two waiting for enough tide to get out to the shallow harbour for sea trials. One of the vessels alongside the pier was aluminum crew boat Sterlink Valiant, on the pier and nearly ready for launching was the Sterlink Courage while nearby the Sterlink Brilliant and Sterlink Sovereign were being made ready for their final paint. The 34-metre sister ships are being built to the account of PT Swasti Bahari Utama, Indonesia and Sterlink Investment Pte Ltd of Singapore.
Each vessel is powered by three Cummins KTA38 M2 diesels generating 1350 hp at 1900 RPM for a total of 4050 hp per vessel. The engines turn into ZF gears. A pair of Cummins 6BT gen sets provides ships power as well as electricity for the 55 Kw bow thruster. For further information please contact: 525-501, 500-476, 475-451, 450-426, 425-401, 400-376 |
