344 Sarawak Slipways Delivers 45.5-meter Landing Craft
Sarawak Slipways, an ISO9001: 2000 certified yard located in Miri, Sarawak, Eastern Malaysia, recently delivered one of their fine new landing craft, named Ajang Marwa, to the Theon Business Corporation. The ABS-classed steel vessel has a 45.5-meter length overall with a 43.1 length on the waterline. Her beam is 10.6 meters with a 3.3-meter molded depth from the main deck to the keel. She has a design draft of only 2.2 meters. The landing craft is powered by a pair of Cummins KTA19 M3 engines each generating 640 hp at 1800 RPM and turning into Twin Disc MG 5222-DC gears with 4.59:1 ratios. This power gives the craft an 11.4-knot maximum speed with a 10.5-knot cruising speed. A pair of Cummins 5.9-liter 6BT (D) M engines turn 80 Kw generators to provide ship's power. Tankage is provided for 90 tonnes of water and 50 tonnes of fuel with an additional 280 tonnes in long range fuel tanks.
Wheelhouse electronics include Raymarine radars, Furuno depth sounder and autopilot and Raytheon radios. The landing craft has, like a sister ship currently under construction, a gross tonnage of 492 tonnes and a net tonnage of 147.
