Bollinger Delivers Another

Leaving Port Fouchon Louisiana

Capt. Canturelle at the forward controls

Capt. Anthony Canturelle grew up in the Bayou country of Louisiana then after high school he joined the marines to see the world. But the Bayou’s have a way of bringing their own back. Capt. Canturell is now back in south Louisiana in fine style as he takes command of one of Bollinger Shipyard’s popular new163-foot supply vessels. (www.bollingershipyards.com ) At sea trials on January 25 he was clearly delighted with his new command—the IreneB owned by JCH Marine LLC of Lockport Louisiana.

A tour of the boat fully justified this pride. The large comfortable wheelhouse has a dynamic positioning, DP1, linked IVCS 2000 integrated vessel control system from Beier Radio (www.beierradio.com). This is available at both the forward command station and the aft control station with its excellent visibility aft over the huge cargo deck.  Accommodation for both boat crew and work or dive crews is spacious and comfortable with light wood trim and high gloss finishes in the lounge and sleeping quarters with space for up to 18 people.

The well-equipped galley features a massive built in refrigerator and a separate mess area. The house is set well forward to provide for the 110-foot after deck. Entry to the engine room is from the main deck just off the galley. This takes one down to the bow thruster engine area where a Cummins N14 engine provides power for both the bow thruster and a 1900-gallon per minute fire monitor. From this area a long companionway leads aft between the boat’s extensive tankage to the main engine room set well aft. The exhaust for the main engines and auxiliaries is brought forward in insulated casings through this companionway to be exited up through stacks built into the house work. In the main engine room a pair of Cummins 6CTA8.3(D)M-powered 99 kw gen sets are flanked by a pair of Cummins KTA38 M0 engines each delivering 750 hp at 1600 RPM into Twin Disc 5301 gears with 4.96:1 reduction. The gen set engines also provide pumping for vessels 50,330 gallons of liquid mud, 57,832 gallons of fuel, 11,200 gallons of potable water and 44,500 gallons of methanol.
