Patrol Boat #14 in Service, More to Come

China is now ranked number three in worldwide shipbuilding. While this rating derives primarily from the large ship sector, the nation’s shipyards continue to produce hundreds of small utilitarian craft of ever increasing quality. These are for both domestic and export markets.

This June the Hangzhou Dongfeng Shipyard, located near the beautiful garden city of Hangzhou, delivered the fourteenth of the an ongoing series of 28-meter patrol boats. Designed, built and classed for domestic use, these handy and handsome boats feature a trim 5.24-meter beam providing ample space in the engine room for a pair of Cummins NTA855 engines turning into Type 300 Han Zho Advance gearboxes. This 700 HP combination pushes the boat along at a respectable 30 kilometers per hour.

Number 15 vessel in the successful series is on order from the same shipyard.
