Chief Bayo Kuku A Gulf Style Boat for West Africa

Seacor Marine and West African Offshore recently took delivery of another crew boat, this one named for Chief Bayo Kuku of Nigeria who is a Nigerian business partner. The new boat is 167x30x12.5-foot with tankage for 27,994 gallons of fuel, and 27,356 gallons of potable or drill water. The 102x25-foot aft deck can carry up to 200 long tons. Interior seating will accommodate up to 70 passengers.

Main engines are four Cummins KTA38 diesels each generating 1,350 HP at 1900 RPM for a total of 5400 HP driving into Twin Disc MG-6650 gears with 2.47:1 reduction and turning Hamilton HM721 waterjets. With the engines turning at an economical 1500 RPM the boat makes 21 knots whilst at the maximum 1900 RPM it will do 27 knots.

A pair of 99 Kw Cummins Onan generator sets powered by 5.9-litre Cummins 6BT engines provide electrical power for the vessel including the 75-HP electric bow thruster.
