China’s Lingshan Shipyard Building Z-Peller Harbour Tugs

Having well proven themselves on conventional tugs, China’s Guangzhou Panyu Lingshan Shipyard is currently
building a pair of Z-peller Harbour tugs for PT. Multi Jaya Samudera of Indonesia.

The 28.9 x 9-meter tugs will have a molded depth of 4.7 meters and a working draft of 3.75 meters. They were designed inhouse with input from the owners. Deck equipment will include a 40 ton towing hook and a hydraulic anchor winch.

Main engine propulsive power will be provided by a pair Cummins KTA50-M2 engines each delivering 1600 BHP at 1800 RPM. The engines will each turn a 2100 m/m Z-peller. The boats are designed to have a bollard pull of at least 40 tons and a free running speed of 12 knots.

A pair of 60 Kw generator sets will be installed on each vessel. Tank capacities include 85 cubic meters for fuel and 12 cubic meters for water. Accommodation is provided for up to 12 crew.

To be named Waruna Jaya and Waruna Mulia, the vessels are scheduled for delivery in January 2005.
