267 August 5, 2004 Fishing in Venice: A Proud Tradition of Quality
Like many great cities, Venice owes its artistic and architectural wealth to maritime trade and, as with those other great cities, the maritime trade drew its energy and crews from the local fishing community. While the importance of Venice as an international port has declined in relative importance to some others, her fishing community remains vibrant. The 27x6.8-metre Nonno Milo is representative of the good boats that fish out of Venices fishing port at Chioggia. Built by Cantiere Anaconetani at Civitanova Marche, she is owned by Manno Antonio and works in the Adriatic using both gill nets and trawl gear. She recently was repowered with a new Cummins V-12 cylinder KTA38 M0 delivering 634 Kw (850 HP) at 1800 RPM the boat now has ample power for all types of trawling. Electrical needs for the vessel are met with a Cummins-powered 48 Kw generator set. For more information please contact: Manno Antonio Giovanni Bugatti 575-551 |
