256 June 2, 2004 Second Tug Building to Proven Design In UAE
Since the delivery of the little line handling and berthing tug, Hamad, from the Dubai Ship Building and Engineering yard last year the vessel has proven her worth. Her owners are now back for a second of the 17.156 x 5.2-meter vessels from the same yard. The second vessel will have the same Cummins NTA14-M main engines. Each of the two engine produces 480 HP at 1800 RPM for a combined 960HP. The tug will be fitted with a pair of 57x43-inch propellers turned through ZF 350 marine gears with a 5:1 ratio. Electrical needs for the vessel are met by a 45.0MCGGA , 45 kW, three ph. 50 HZ Onan Marine Admiral Generating set.
Primarily intended for harbour work, the tug is equipped with a 300 cubic meter per hour fire pump with a remotely controlled monitor. The vessels 2.726 molded depth and 1.6-meter working draft gives her enough body to handle some coastal towing. Similarly her full suite of electronics includes a magnetic compass, radar, GPS, chart plotter and VHF to aide coastal navigation. Full air-conditioned crew accommodation is provided for four people. A three-ton telescopic hydraulic crane is located aft of the wheelhouse. The 50-ton GRT tug is built to Bureau Veriatas classification.
The new tug, to be named Obaid is scheduled for delivery in January 2005 . The owners are Mubarak Marine, P.O.Box 7220, U.A.E - Dubai. For further information please contact: 500-476, 475-451, 450-426, 425-401, 400-376 |
