236 Gulf Craft Yard Delivers High Tech Seacor Marine Boat
In late October this year, Gulf Craft of Patterson Louisiana delivered yet another spectacular new crew boat to Seacor Marine of Houston Texas. The 175 by 30-foot Seth McCall is powered by four Cummins KTA-50-M2 diesel engines rated at 1,800 BHP @ 1900 RPM and each coupled with a Twin Disc, model MG-6848 SC, 2.47:1 reduction ratio gear. Each engine turns a Hamilton HM-811 water jet providing a light ship speed of 31 knots and fully loaded speed of 26 knots.
The boat is fire fighting capable with a pair of SKUM 5,300 GPM pumps feeding monitors on the stern quarters. This location allows the stern of the vessel to be directed to the fire keeping the crew and wheelhouse at a safe distance. The sophistication of crew boat electronics and systems have been growing increasingly complex with electronic engine controls, dynamic positioning, ride control and all of the usual navigation equipment supported by ever increasing numbers of computers and sensors. To bring order to the myriad displays and potential alarms, the Seth McCall has been equipped with a CSP monitoring system. This integrates all alarms to a single display monitor. The alarms display in colour coded print as well as verbal prompts. The system can be programmed so that severe problems will cause a prompt but orderly shut down either with or without warning. The full specifications, photos and drawings of this and other recently delivered vessels are available under "Recent Deliveries" on the excellent Gulf Craft web page at: www.gulfcraft.com.
