Kvichak Marine in Seattle are currently building a 64X28-foot catamaran for Hawaiian waters. The boat is being built to a design from Crowther Multihulls of Newport, Australia. With a passenger capacity of 149 on her broad-beamed hull, she will be constructed to meet the requirements of the United States Coast Guard for 149 passenger vessels. With 7 feet of freeboard and a 4-foot 10-inch draft she will have a displacement of 110,000 pounds (49,940 Kg). Main engine power will be two Cummins KTA19 engines each delivering 700 HP at 2100 RPM. The engines will turn 30-inch Nibral props through ZF IRM350A.2 gears. The boat will have a top speed of over 27 knots. Tankage will be provided for 580 gallons of fresh water and 300 gallons of sewage.
