Larger Version of Successful Icelandic Fishing Boat

 K-Mar-K

Following years of success both at home and in the export market of the 33-foot Icelandic-built Cleopatra Fisherman boat, an enlarged 38-foot model has been introduced to a ready market by the gilder Trefjar. While the earlier vessels were typically powered by a Cummins 6CTA8.3 M3 engines, the larger model has a Cummins QSM11 with full authority electronic controls rated at 580 HP. The engine turns into a ZF325V 1.73:1 ration reduction gear. She achieved 25 knots on sea trials. Design of the working deck provides for versatility and allows for use of both trap and net handling gear.

A number of the 33-footers are working in Scottish and Irish waters. The illustrated 38-foot boat has been delivered this month to a fisherman in Ireland. A strong local and export demand in anticipated for this larger version of the well proven Cleopatra line.
