LeBeouf Bros. Towing Co., Inc.

LeBeouf is one of the oldest marine towing companies operating on the inland waterway systems, having been formed in the early 1940's by brothers, Willard and Irvin LeBeouf. In approximately 1946, Earl Gonsoulin joined the Company and became an equal partner with the LeBeouf's. In 1957, LeBeouf was incorporated under the laws of the State of Louisiana, and from that date forward the towing company grew from a two vessel operation to its current level. In 1968, Richard A. Gonsoulin and Jerry T. Gonsoulin purchased the stock of the LeBeouf's resulting in the Company being solely owned by the Gonsoulin family.

Today, the company is owned and operated by Richard and Jerry Gonsoulin. Presently, the company operates twenty-three (23) towboats and forty-three (43) barges. The company is capable of transporting crude oil, clean, and heavy oil products.

LeBeouf’s areas of operation are from Brownsville, Texas to St. Marks, Florida on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway; and as far north as St. Paul, Minnesota on the Mississippi River system. Other areas of operation include: the Illinois, Ohio, Arkansas,, as well as the Tennessee river, Cumberland, and the TennTom waterway system.

LeBeouf employs approximately 150 people to operate its fleet with a total barrel capacity of approximately 920,000 barrels. The company operates a shipyard facility, employing 60 people, with the capability of gasfreeing, drydocking, water treatment, and repair for LeBeouf's fleet as well as other customers. Corporate offices of LeBeouf and its shipyard operations are located at Mile 49 on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.

The M/V CREOLE SUE is a twin screw towboat that was built in 1969 by Superior Boat Works of Greenville, Mississippi. Her dimensions are 81’ X 28’. She was originally powered by CAT D 379 diesels with Reintjes 5:1 reduction gears. In 1995 she was repowered with CAT D398 diesels bringing her horsepower up to 1800. The original Reintjes gears stayed in place after the 1995 repowering as they remained in good condition. In May of 2001 one of the Sue’s Reintjes gears failed after thirty-two years of continuous operation. After weighing the cost and down time of repairing the outdated gear, the decision was made to repower the vessel with Cummins engines and Reintjes gears as a package.

LeBeouf had recently repowered their M/V CREOLE LADY with Cummins KTA-38M1 diesels. LeBeouf has been very pleased with their service making our choice an easy one for the M/V CREOLE SUE. The M/V CREOLE SUE is currently pushing two-297’ x 54’ hot oil barges on the gulf coast.
