New Brunswick Firm Completes Large Order

Vernon Theriault’s Magna Marine of Baie St. Anne New Brunswick completed a 20-vessel order for the Big Cove New Brunswick First Nations Band this past summer. The same customer also purchased a 25-foot demonstration vessel from the builder to be used as a fisheries patrol vessel. The 45-foot lobster boats constructed under the order have a large 26 by 14-foot open deck aft to accommodate traps and totes for carrying the lobster catch. Main engines are six-cylinder Cummins C-series rated at 350 HP each. The engines turn over square Hall Stavert 30 by 32-inch propellers through ZF IRM301 marine gears with 2.69.1 ratios. Electronics packages were supplied by CMC Electronics and included Raytheon Radar, GPS, plotter, VHF radio and sounders for each boat.

Delivery of this order bring to 69 the total number of Miramichi 4500s delivered to date. Most are for commercial fishing but the firm is finding a growing market among recreational users for this model as well as the six other models available.
