112 Pushboat for Crescent Marine Towing of New Orleans Corbert Plaisance of Crescent Marine Towing will be adding a fourth boat to his growing fleet in late July. "We are starting to build back up," says Plaisance of his 25-year-old firm, "We were down to two boats after the recession in the early 1980s." The 65x24x9-foot boat is to be powered by a pair of Cummins KTA19-M3 mains delivering 600 HP each at 1800 RPM into Twin Disc 6:1 gears and four blade stainless steel props on five-inch stainless shafts. Of his choice of the Cummins KTA19-M3 engine, Plaisance says from his office on the Westbank of the Mississippi near New Orleans, "I have a friend over here on the Bayou with this model and he is really pleased with it." For Plaisance this is his first boat from Rodriguez and he is full of praise for the builder and the progress on the new boat, "Joey Rodriguez is doing a real nice job on the boat. I was looking at the woodwork on one of the other boats that he has finished and it looks really good." Funding for the project involved Case Financial. The boat will go to work on the Intercoastal Waterway delivering aggregate barges for Luhr Bros. Inc. of Columbia Illinois.
